We joined the Third Rail — one of NYCFC’s core supporter groups — for a new perspective on match day in the Bronx. Rain, the reigning MLS champions, tifos, beer and way more rain made for an incredible atmosphere.
Welcome to “Tifos & Tallboys,” a new content series that drops you in the middle of some of the most passionate supporters in the world. Like our “Pitch Side” series, T&T brings yet another unique perspective on the game and shines light on the die-hard supporters that bring the energy each match. If you would like to nominate a group to highlight, please shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with the club name and supporter group info. Enjoy.
“Slight chance of rain” was the biggest understatement of the day. The rain started about 30 minutes prior to kickoff and didn’t let up until about the 75th minute. And this rain had zero chill, it was a full on downpour. However, the wet conditions didn’t slow down the supporters nor did it slow down NYCFC. The David Villa-led side went on to defeat Seattle Sounders in dramatic fashion, all to the beat of the Third Rail’s drums.
