Meet WDWRK. FC, the Australian-based clothing brand dead-set on binding a world of football fans through words and lines.
The world isn’t short of football brands. In order to be a part of the conversation, those brands need to stand for something. Hailing from Australia, WDWRK. is a brand new name in the football lifestyle ecosystem. At its core, WDWRK. – pronounced woodwork – re-emphasizes on the invisible bond between football fans around the world by creating products with references that only football fans will get.
“Why “woodwork?” says founder Tawsif Akkas, “Take two people – a football fan and a non-football fan – and ask them what the term “woodwork” means to them. You will get completely different answers. And that’s what excites me. The more I got into football, the more I understood that it was a world of its own. This sport is ingrained in the fabric of our society and yet it clearly has its own culture, its own following, its own identity. WDWRK. celebrates this idea with words and lines.”
From simple text based graphics to detailed sketches of legends, the brand is all about attention to details. The founder also mentioned that a lot of the brand is dedicated to celebrate the underground football culture of many cities, especially Bangladesh where he is originally from.
“Bangladesh is a country that has gotten more popular recently for its cricket, but in reality there is a massive underground football scene that has been brewing for years. I grew up with football constantly around me: from the street football culture to the FIFA clans to the fantasy players, it’s massive. And a part of the reason why I created WDWRK. was to highlight this culture that the world is yet to discover. After moving to Australia, I have met people in the local scene with the same passion for the game and its culture.”
The brand launched in late November and releases the products in “waves”. Wave One is out now and you can check the full collection on their website at www.wdwrkfc.com.
