The Hyundai A-League announces new logo for the 2017 season. For the first time in Australian sport, the logo will be fluid and adaptable to club colors across the league.
The Australian league introduces a new, modern design that will go into effect for the 2017 season. The new design is a much simpler and cleaner version of the existing league logo. Most importantly, the logo will take on different color schemes for each club in the league. The club-specific versions will be used on all marketing collateral, including jerseys.
“The logo design is inspired by football’s three outstanding features – atmosphere, diversity and unity,” FFA chief executive David Gallop said. “Our fans create a wonderful atmosphere, we are part of the biggest sport in the world and there’s a place for everyone to become involved.”
The A-League isn’t the first to design their logo to be fluid. The MLS announced that their new logo would adapt to team colors starting in the 2015 season. It’s nice to see the MLS paving the way for leagues, when it comes to branding. MLS fans across the U.S. have taken to the new logo and created custom versions for their clubs (see FC Dallas, right) so it will be interesting to see if the Australian fans adopt the logo in the same way.
