The Dutch league announce the “Eredivisie Brilliant by Henk Schiffmacher” to celebrate the league’s 60th anniversary.
Kits aren’t the only things getting an artistic makeover these days as more and more attention is being put into the details surrounding the game. The most recent trend are match balls. First there was the Adidas MLS Nativo and now the Eredivisie Brilliant.
Having a tattoo artist design the league’s ball is a wildly creative one, and they’re certainly not the first in football to ink tattoo culture into the game. Famed tattooist, Henk Schiffmacher, has been given the honor of injecting some Amsterdam culture into the Dutch league. Schiffmacher is well-known amongst the league, as his work appears a lot players around the Eredivisie and is an established artist in Amsterdam. The ball itself features Schiffmacher’s signature as well as a special logo to commemorate the anniversary.
The “Eredivisie Brilliant” will make its debut on May 14th during the Eredivisie league’s final matches.
